Process Paper:
I chose to do this topic because I tend to really like this time period. I believe that the Civil War is often taught in a very one-sided fashion, so I thought this was a good opportunity to look at it from a more neutral point of view than what most people tend to do. I already had a lot of books regarding the Civil War, so I did not have any trouble finding the information that I needed to conduct my research. Overall, I tend to look at the topic differently than most people; most people tend to think of the Civil War as an event that occurred solely because of slavery, and that it happened all at once, but I believe that while slavery was very important when talking about this time period, there were also a number of other things that had been stewing since our country was first founded. I conducted most of my research through hard copies of books, but I also used Ebsco Host and a number of different websites that were very useful to me. Overall, I think that this was a good project that expanded my knowledge on the subject.
